EcoFilm®, Patented Compostable Film | 15 Gal
EcoFilm is a certified compostable film designed to replace traditional nondegradable films such as low density and high density polyethylenes. It also provides superior mechanical properties and stability in comparison to other compostable films on the market. EcoFilm has been certified compostable by both DIN CERTCO and the Biodegradable Products In- stitute per EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 respectively. Unlike some compostable films, EcoFilm is heat and water stable and does not prematurely break down while in use making it ideally suited for organic waste collection and community composting programs.
The exact time needed for EcoFilm to biodegrade is dependent upon the conditions and activity of the disposal environment (temperature, soil quality, activity of microorganisms). When placed in a typical commercial composting environment, EcoFilm will fully biodegrade into carbon dioxide and water within a matter of weeks. There is no ecotoxicity to the soil, plants, or microorganisms involved in this process. Since microorganisms are the means for biodegradation, EcoFilm is shelf and curb stable and will retain its integrity until disposed of properly.
EcoFilm is available in a variety of sizes and constructions of- fering an environmentally friendly alternative for applications ranging from grocery bags to export shipping.
Cortec is a world leader in rust and corrosion removal and protection. Cortec VpCI® products offer cost-effective and environmentally friendly corrosion protection solutions that are bio-degradable, self replenishing and provide multi-metal protection.
FEATURES
• 100% Compostable per ASTM D6400 and DIN EN 13432
• Environmentally friendly
• Shelf and curb stable
• Superior mechanical properties
SHELF LIFE: For shipping and storage applications, EcoFilm is a great alternative to conventional polyethylene films. EcoFilm has a shelf life of up to two years, when sealed in original packaging.
Once removed and put to use, EcoFilm will remain effective with regard to mechanical strength until the film is placed in contact with material containing microorganisms, such as certain types of waste, soil, and compost. Under these conditions, 100% disintegration will occur within weeks with no residual contamination of the soil.
PACKAGING AND STORAGE: EcoFilm is available in standard 36” (91.4cm) and 48” (91.4cm) rolls as well as a wide variety of custom sizes and forms ranging from 0.5mil-6mil (12.5 μ-150μ). Custom forms include single wound sheeting, double wound sheeting, U-sheets, M-sheets, center folds, gusset tubes, and converted bags made from these types of films and perforated or bag-on-roll products.
